Medical Staff ICD-10 Awareness Training
Our firm is very experienced with providing both general and detailed training sessions to our clients’ medical staff members in all types of formats. Our custom designed medical staff awareness training provides physicians with a high level of understanding of the impact of ICD-10 on clinical care, clinical work-flow processes and clinical documentation. The training typically consists of a two phased approach; first, a general high-level overview of the impact of ICD-10 on medical staff, followed by physician education by specialty with more concrete examples of changes. The goal of the sessions is to leave the medical staff with practical information which they can use on a daily basis.

ICD-10-CM (Diagnosis coding) Training
This continuing education course is designed to help train healthcare professionals in understanding the organization and structure of ICD-10-CM (diagnoses). It compares ICD-9, with ICD-10 diagnoses and teaching the use of General Equivalence Mappings (GEMS). It provides chapter-specific case coding, explaining the changes between the two coding conventions and guidelines for both outpatient and inpatient services. It also trains in the application of ICD-10-CM diagnoses coding.
ICD-10 PCS (Procedure Coding) Training
This continuing education course is designed to help train hospital and other facility healthcare professionals in understanding the organization and structure of ICD-10-PCS (procedure) inpatient coding. It compares ICD-9, with ICD-10 procedure codes and teaching how to “cross-walk” from the ICD-9 to the ICD-10 PCS codes using the General Equivalence Mappings (GEMS). It provides case coding, explaining the changes between the two procedure coding conventions and guidelines. It also trains in the application of ICD-10 PCS coding.
Anatomy and Physiology Training
Effective ICD-10 coding begins with enhanced biomedical skills and an elevated knowledge of anatomy and physiology. We provide in-house anatomy and physiology training to prepare your coding staff for ICD-10 coding. We typically begin with an initial proficiency test to evaluate the baseline measure of comfort with the principles of anatomy and physiology as they relate to coding skills. We then develop and deliver robust anatomy and physiology training to prepare coders for the elevated knowledge of biomedical concepts to ensure success with the implementation of the ICD-10 code set.
